ANAHEIM, Calif. — Going to Disneyland just got more expensive.
The most basic pass to Disneyland will cost an adult $87 (up from $80) and a child $81 (up from $74). A one-day adult "Park Hopper" ticket went from $105 to $125. Kids ages 3 to 9 can get in for $119, according to Time.
The price increases come as a result of Disneyland, Universal Studios and other theme parks competing with each other by adding more rides and expansions, according to the article. When there's a lot of competition for consumers' dollars, prices can go up on occasion.
Another reason for raising ticket prices is to make multi-day passes and lodging-pass packages look like better deals, according to Time. Paying $125 a day can seem like a lot of money, making other packages seem like a better deal.
The new price hikes will only apply to Disney parks in California and Universal Studios raised its prices last summer, according to the article. But more price hikes may be coming.
"Disney and Universal will take a look at their attendance before deciding on a ticket increase this fall," Robert Niles, editor of ThemeParkInsider, told Time. "If attendance is through the roof, leading Disney to think its parks are underpriced, I wouldn't be surprised to see another increase before next spring."
