BUFFALO, N.Y. — Police canine units are searching a cliff near the lakeside house of a Buffalo, N.Y., trauma surgeon sought in connection with the hospital shooting death of ex-girlfriend.

The search began shortly before 11 a.m. near the luxury home belonging to Dr. Timothy Jorden. The house sits on the shore of Lake Erie.

Jorden is the former U.S. Army weapons specialist who police have been searching for since Wednesday morning. That's when 33-year-old Jacqueline Wisniewski was found shot to death in a stairwell at the Erie County Medical Center where she and Jorden both worked.

Police say the 49-year-old Jorden may be armed and dangerous.

Jorden has served as a role model for black youth in Buffalo, people who know him told the Buffalo News.
