CLEARFIELD — Authorities say a 17-year-old Clearfield High School student has been arrested after tossing a smoke bomb into a common area.

The Standard-Examiner of Ogden reports about 1,600 students were evacuated for about a half-hour Wednesday morning until the smoke cleared.

Assistant Police Chief Mike Stenquist says the boy has been arrested on suspicion of first-degree felony arson.

Stenquist says five girls suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
