Oliver 'Sam' Tolboe Johnson1933~2012Fruit Heights, UtahSam Johnson, age 79, passed away June 17, 2012, on Father's Day, at his home in Fruit Heights, Utah, surrounded by his family. Sam was born March 28, 1933 in Orem, Utah. He was the son of Ollie and Lois Johnson. He married his sweetheart, Nancy Gammell, on October 11, 1956 in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a wonderful father and was blessed with seven sons. Sam graduated from Lincoln High School in Orem, Utah in 1951 and later graduated from BYU with a degree in Marketing in 1958.Sam worked as a salesman and entrepreneur for many years and in various fields. He primarily worked in the chemical industry where he formed his own business, Industrial Research, where he was well known and respected throughout Utah and Wyoming. Sam was an active member of the LDS church where he provided a lifetime of service. He was particularly fond of missionary work and was able to serve an honorable full-time mission as a young man in 1954 in Australia. He later returned to Australia where he served faithfully with his wife Nancy in 1994-95. Sam and Nancy also served a mission as temple workers in the Washington DC temple. He also had a strong love for temple work and family history and served many years as a temple worker in the Bountiful Utah temple. He was faithful in the many callings where he was asked to serve. He loved teaching the gospel, especially to the young men, where he was able to influence many lives. The most important calling he ever had was as a father where he was a tremendous example for good in the lives of his seven sons and their families. Sam is survived by his wife Nancy, and his children Scott (Sandy Stringham) Johnson, Bountiful; David (Connie Jackson) Johnson, Kaysville; Steve (Sherry Furniss) Johnson, McKinney, TX; Blake (Jenna Bingham) Johnson, Twin Falls; Greg (Lisa Evans) Johnson, Kaysville; Dennis (Lisa Brough) Johnson, Kaysville; and Jared (Julie Evans) Johnson, Syracuse. He is also survived by his sister Sally Hill, Phoenix; sister-in-law Carol Muhlestein, Pleasant Grove; and by 27 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, brother, Randy Johnson, and brother-in-law, John Hill. The family would like to express their appreciation and deep gratitude to Rocky Mountain Rehab and Vista Care Home Health with their many caring staff members. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sam's memory can be made to the LDS Humanitarian or Perpetual Education Funds or to your favorite humanitarian organization. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 23, 11 am at the LDS chapel at 875 East 200 North in Kaysville, Utah. A viewing will be held Friday, June 22, 6-8 pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary at 1941 N.
