Doyle Ernest Kohler1935 ~ 2012Doyle Ernest Kohler, 77, died June 24, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. His spirit was released from a tired and well-used body. Although his last few months were very painful he maintained a spirit of gratitude, patience, and kindness for his family and caregivers. He truly showed how to live by his example.Doyle was born May 1, 1935 into the loving arms of Rex C. Kohler and Estella Paramore. His older siblings are Dean (deceased), his sister Vilate, and Bud Wayne (deceased).He married and sealed to his loving wife Lillie. They were blessed with four great children, Lex D. Kohler, Peggy S. Beck (Michael), Cliff E. Kohler (Suzanne), and Melinda Johnson (Kevin). He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, one great grandchild and has been preceded in death by two grandsons.Doyle was born and raised in Midway, Utah and grew up learning how to work hard. He milked cows, hauled hay, irrigated fields and continually worked to help support the family. He was a talented athlete excelling in football and baseball. He was a devout BYU athletics fan, holding season tickets and following BYU's sport teams across the country.His passion for entrepreneurship and hard work were evident in the success of his grocery business. He faithfully served the communities of Lehi and Highland Utah with all of their grocery needs. His success in the grocery business led to him being elected to the board of directors of Associated Food Stores. He also served the city of Lehi as a volunteer fire fighter for decades. Doyle expected hard work from those around him, but was filled with sincere compassion for those in need. His compassion was often demonstrated with a job, gift, or a visit.Taking care of his family truly was one of his greatest priorities. He served without question in any capacity in which he was asked. Doyle patiently endured the experiences of the past few months, as the Lord provided him with this life's "extra polishing". Sealed for the eternities to his sweetheart in the Mount Timpanogos Temple, Doyle will once again unite with his wife and family triumphant over death.A viewing in honor of his life will be held for friends and family Thursday, June 28, 2012 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at Wing Mortuary, 118 East Main, Lehi, Utah.
