Lowell K. Burningham1935 ~ 2012Lowell K. Burningham, age 77, died at home on Friday, June 22nd, 2012 after a long and valiant fight with cancer. At the time he died he was surrounded by the family he loved and cared for his entire life. He was born May 7th, 1935, in Bountiful, Utah to Albert J. and Esther K. Burningham. He spent most of his life in Salt Lake City. In his younger years he married Shirley Stevens (divorced), with whom he had two of his five beloved children. Lowell built several successful businesses, including one in Las Vegas, NV, before founding Burningham's Truck Plaza in 1967. He was a member of the Bountiful City Volunteer Fire Department and Jeep Posse with his father for many years. On January 12, 1961 Lowell married his lifelong sweetheart Myrna Labrum in the Salt Lake Temple.Lowell served as President of the Hidden Valley Country Club in 1989. He was an avid golfer, winning the Hook-a-Rama with his son Kraig in 1993. In fact, throughout the course of his 17-year illness, his one goal was to get back on the golf course. Lowell never lost his smile and his sense of humor.He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Myrna; his daughter Lezlee (Larry) Oxton of Loveland, Colorado; sons Steve (Kris Gilbert), Kraig (Susie Collins) and daughter Kelly (Janel Hogan); as well as his brother Mark (Barbara). Also by his grandchildren Jessica and Jack Oxton, Daisy (Robert) Hilton, and Ashley Burningham; Sasha (Ryan) Lunt and Misti Okimoto (J.J. Garcia); great-grandchildren Hazel, Charlie, Aaliyah and Carter; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; his infant son, James Lowell; his brother Ronald, and sister Audrey Nelson.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Huntsman Cancer Institute or the Humane Society of Utah.Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 12:00 noon at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple. Friends and family may call Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm and from 10:45-11:45 prior to the services, both at Larkin Mortuary. Interment to follow the services in the Bountiful Memorial Park Cemetery.
