WEST BOUNTIFUL — A juvenile was stabbed by a relative while sleeping in his bed early Wednesday.

Police were called to the home, near 1200 North and 640 West, at about 1:30 a.m. for an "unknown type of disturbance," said West Bountiful City Police Chief Todd Hixson. He said 22-year-old Mitchell Howe was arrested at the home and was later booked into the Davis County Jail for investigation of attempted homicide.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Howe and the male victim had no prior incidents that would have instigated the stabbing, Hixson said.

The victim, whose name and age was not released, was taken to an area hospital and remained in intensive care. Hixson said he is expected to recover.
