ABERDEEN, Md. — Cal Ripken Jr.'s mother says a man who kidnapped her at gunpoint, tied her up and blindfolded her didn't seem to know she was in the famous baseball family.

Police say 74-year-old Vi Ripken was found bound in the back of her car Wednesday morning, about a day after she was kidnapped from her home outside Baltimore.

Aberdeen Police Chief Henry Trabert says investigators don't know the kidnapper's motive and there was no ransom demand. A suspect has not been found.

Ripken told a neighbor that the gunman didn't seem to know her son is the Hall of Fame infielder Cal Ripken Jr.
