Reading the editorial "Stop misrepresenting positions to score cheap political points" seems to justify President Obama's position (July 21).

Just giving the total quote from Obama does not justify his argument. He seems to be saying, "Because you have been given much, you too should give". We all agree with this sentiment. It's when he says that we must give more to government in higher taxes that we disagree.

Consider the story of Bob and Fred. Bob gives Fred $1,000 and Fred goes out and buys a suit for Bob for $500. When Fred comes again to get another $1,000, Bob refuses. Fred accuses Bob of being ungrateful. Just change Fred's name to Obama and Bob's name changed to Mr. Taxpayer and you get the point.

We need to remember that government never built a road. They take money from you and then go out and pay a company in the private sector to build the road.
