Louise Callister"Our Little Grandma"Louise Lewis Callister, 102, our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great Great Grandmother, Aunt and Friend passed away on July 30, 2012 at her home in Tooele, surrounded by her loved ones. Mom was born September 22, 1909 in Albion, Idaho to David Lewis and Louise Wickel Lewis. Her mother died two weeks after Mom was born. She attended schools in Idaho and graduated from Albion State Normal with a degree in Elementary Education. She married J. Lloyd Callister on June 3, 1929. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. The moved to Tooele after their marriage and both taught school at Pine Canyon where Mom taught grades 1 through 3 and Dad taught grades 4 through 6. Mom also was a substitute teacher in the Tooele County Schools and later worked in the School Lunch system for 18 years. She was a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was baptized in March 1939. She served in the Primary for 28 years, in the Relief Society Presidency and served as a devoted Visiting Teacher from 1943 until 2011. Mom was a big sports fan and supported her grandchildren, the Jazz and BYU. Her happiest hours were spent with her family and traveling. She loved to read and shop. She is survived by Gloria Callister, Bev (Joe) Macari, Betty Dunn, Sharon Callister, Carsten Pomeroy, Chuck Anderson, Alyce Callister (sister-in-law), many special nieces and nephews. She has 12 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, her husband Lloyd, daughters Billie and Pat, son Gary, grandson Gregg and son-in-law Melvin Dunn. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Tooele 3rd Ward, 141 W Utah Ave. Viewing will be held Friday prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:45 at the church. Interment will be in the Tooele City Cemetery under the direction of Tate Mortuary. The family would like to express thanks and appreciation to Rocky Mountain Hospice, especially to Tracy (our special angel), to Dr. Carolyn Forbes, to Dr. Kenneth Schaecher, and to our neighbors and friends.
