VERNAL — The Ashley National Forest Resource Advisory Committee is seeking ideas for projects on or adjacent to the forest that would benefit the forest.
The committee would like to encourage individuals, nonprofit organizations, local governments and others to propose projects that restore watersheds, decommission or maintain roads, remove noxious weeds, thin tree stands, or otherwise improve the condition of the forests. The proposed projects need not be implemented on Forest Service lands, but must be adjacent to and benefit national forest resources.
The committee receives funds through the reauthorized Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000.
Applications and instructions for proposals are available by contacting Louis Haynes, RAC coordinator, at 435-781-5105 and can be found online at the Ashley National Forest web site, www.fs.fed.us/r4/ashley/RAC/index.shtml. Applications must be submitted by Aug. 15.
