PROVO — It's been two weeks since coach Bronco Mendenhall announced that running back Joshua "Juice" Quezada had decided to transfer.
What was his teammates' reaction?
"Josh has got to do what's best for him," said quarterback Riley Nelson. "If he's not happy here and the best decision for him personally in his life is to not be here, we respect that decision. We're sad to see him go. He was a great teammate and a great worker. … At the end of the day, he has to make the decisions that are best for him."
HELD OUT OF PRACTICE: Wide receiver Cody Hoffman and defensive back Joe Sampson were held out of practice for disciplinary reasons Friday, according to Mendenhall. Both players are expected to be back for Saturday's practice.
HAPPY TO BE HERE: Linebacker Kyle Van Noy was sidelined for spring drills after undergoing shoulder surgery.
Van Noy is back at practice, though it's anticipated he won't be cleared to fully participate until Aug. 15.
"I'm taking this one day at a time," he said. "I'm not trying to rush into anything. I'm just happy to be back on the field. I'll be ready for the first game."
UNITED WE STAND: Senior defensive lineman Eathyn Manumaleuna said he and his teammates are closer than ever.
"The team has come together a lot more," he said. "I think we're more unified this year and we were more prepared going into fall camp. Everything is falling into place the way we want it to be."
