She was the oldest child of Edward Eugene and Mary Isek Westhoff. The family relocated to Springville, Utah where she graduated from Springville High School in 1959. She met Walter Ludlow and they were married in 1959, later divorced. Together they had three children Walter, Jill, and James. Dawn married Reid Horne in 1970, later divorced. Dawn graduated from BYU School of Nursing in 1971 specializing in mother and baby care. She was also a landlady and managed her own properties. Dawn loved the fine arts, bowling, animals, watching movies, and traveling the world. Her day wasn't complete until she read the entire morning paper and watched the evening news. She was an intelligent woman who loved to read and follow politics. She was an active member in the philanthropic sorority Epsilon Sigma Alpha, and the Pioneer Theatre Guild. She was very charitable and spent countless hours in the service of others. All can attest to her generosity and to her unconditional love, beauty, grace, warmth, and concern for others.
