TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Doug Nussmeier isn't charged with fixing a broken offense or scripting an entirely new philosophy for Alabama.
The Crimson Tide's new offensive coordinator will still be running the Alabama offense. Says center Barrett Jones: "There won't be any confusion there."
Alabama coach Nick Saban says changes to the passing game will help the offense in being both more "explosive" and more balanced.
So far, Nussmeier has been a hit with players who call him "Coach Nuss." He got the job after Jim McElwain left to lead Colorado State's program. The former Washington and Fresno State offensive coordinator praised quarterback AJ McCarron at Sunday's media day.
He also says that one benefit to the job is you learn quickly the offense's strengths and weaknesses when you're practicing against the Tide defense.
