Swinney says No. 17 Clemson must look ahead

COLUMBIA, S.C. — There's a long season ahead for No. 17 Clemson and Tigers coach Dabo Swinney says he's got to make sure his team's first loss of the year doesn't damage the next two months as well.

It's happened before at Clemson (3-1, 0-1 Atlantic Coast Conference), Swinney knows. The defending ACC champions started 8-0 in 2011 before losing three of their last four regular season games.

So Swinney's on high alert this week as the Tigers try and bounce back from a 49-37 defeat to No. 4 Florida State when they head to Boston College. Clemson has lost two of its three games in Boston since the Eagles joined the ACC.

Swinney and his coaches are disappointed with Saturday's loss, yet eager to remind the Tigers there's plenty to play for.
