CLEVELAND — A federal judge has scheduled change-of-plea hearings for three of the four remaining defendants charged with plotting to bomb a highway bridge in Ohio.
Such a hearing usually signals a defendant plans to plead guilty. The three had previously entered not guilty pleas.
Mike Tobin, spokesman for the U.S. attorney's office in Cleveland, confirmed the hearings set for Wednesday in Akron for Brandon Baxter, Connor Stevens and Douglas Wright. Tobin would not comment on any possible plea deals.
Stevens' attorney, Terry Gilbert, said a guilty plea by his client was possible. In July, another defendant pleaded guilty and agreed to testify for prosecutors.
A plea change by the trio would leave only Joshua Stafford, currently undergoing a psychiatric evaluation, facing trial.
