Frederick Joseph Callahan, Sr. 1940 ~ 2013Frederick Joseph Callahan, Sr. (1940-2013) was born the third child of Edmund and Delphine Callahan in Hull, Massachusetts. He grew up in Hull surrounded by family and was into astronomy, gardening, football, and other sports. He went onto attend Northeastern University where he become a computer engineer and married Marsha Healey in 1962, mother of his two children Heidi and Jeffery.Fred married Betsy Nicholson on June 26, 1977 and they traveled to Salt Lake City so she could complete her doctorate in Social Work. While he was working for Evans & Sutherland they had Angelina and Frederick Jr. A few years later he started a garden design business which he ran for several years with glowing reviews of his designs. After running his own business, he returned to the computer database engineering and was considered a leader in his field until he retired at age 67. Upon retirement he devoted himself to his passions; gardening, reading, physics, astronomy, and his family and friends. Fred was known to all as a kind, loving, and giving person. He thrived surrounded by friends and family. Fred had a thirst for learning and never stopped. He could discussed and debate a multitude of topics for hours. He always had a special twinkle in his eye. He touched many people over the years with his compassion and unconditional love. He will be deeply missed. Fred was a loving husband to Betsy Callahan. He was a proud father of children Heidi Oster, Jeffery Callahan, Angelina Reeves, and Frederick Callahan Jr., and grandfather to Rachel Oster. He is survived by his sisters Cookie Nichols, Maureen Callahan and brothers Joey Callahan, and Eddie Callahan. And his family Jimmy Oster, Kyle Reeves, and Kamee Callahan. He is also survived by many friends whom he considered family and cherished dear to his heart.
