Margaret Patten Gasparac1919 ~ 2013Margaret Patten Gasparac, 93, died Jan. 15, 2013, of causes incident to age. Born Nov. 15, 1919, in Payson, Utah, to Charles and Sofie Nielsen Patten. Raised in Payson and graduated from Payson High School in 1938. Married Joseph Lake Gasparac on June 22, 1940, in SLC. Lived in Park City, Utah, from 1940-1949 when they moved to Salt Lake City. Faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in the Primary, YWMIA, Cub Scouts, Library, and as a Visiting Teacher for over 70 years. Member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers where she served on the Camp, County, and National levels; was Registrar for Central Company for many years. Her expertise of by-laws and pioneer history were invaluable to the DUP. Enjoyed family get-togethers, reunions, writing letters, quilting, and doing hair-pin lace crocheting. Excellent cook and is fondly remembered by her grandchildren for her pies and sugar cookies. A loyal friend and sister. Compassionate to the less fortunate. Survived by two children: Kent Joseph Gasparac and Karen Gasparac (Frederik) Dissel. Eight grandchildren: Kurt, Bret, Jennifer, Ryan, Adam, Andrew, Sofia, and Jonathan; 21 great-grandchildren. Brothers and sisters: Boyd (Adelaide) Patten; Dune (Doug, deceased) Lazenby; Helen (Ervin) Davis; William (Norma, deceased) Patten; Florence (Dutch, deceased) Zahlmann.Preceded in death in 1988 by her husband, Joseph, of 47 years and by 11 brothers and sisters: Melvin, Fay, Emma, George, Maude, Ray, Lillian, Reed, Iona, Harold, and Rex.Friday Viewing, Jan. 18, 2013, at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary in Sandy, Utah, 1950 East 10600 South from 5:00-7:30 PM. Saturday Viewing, Jan. 19, 2013, at the Peteetneet Museum, 10 North Peteetneet Blvd. in Payson, Utah, from 10:30-11:30 AM. Graveside dedication at Noon at the Payson City Cemetery. We express our gratitude to the Alta Ridge Alzheimer's Community and Millcreek Hospice for their tender mercies during Mother's last few months. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund or Humanitarian Center.
