Elaine Petersen Mann1927 ~ 2013Elaine Petersen Mann, 85, passed away peacefully in her sleep January 19, 2013, in Provo, Utah, to finally be reunited with her eternal companion Edward after seven years of separation. Elaine was a wife, mother, and grandmother, beloved of her family and her many relatives and friends.Elaine was born April 29, 1927 to Joseph Melvin Petersen and Christina May McSporran in Riverton, Utah. A telephone operator in Salt Lake City, she met Edward O'Brian Mann during the street celebration at the end of World War II. They were married on August 30, 1945, and remained devoted sweethearts for the rest of their lives. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.She is survived by three sons, Richard (Ramona), Alan (Lorinda), and Steven (Charlotte), 13 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. Two more great-grandchildren are expected shortly. Her husband, parents, two sisters (Leona Heugley and Gladys Steadman), three brothers (Arch, Roy and Don Petersen) and one great-grandchild (Lucas Steven Mann) predeceased her.She loved quietly serving others. As a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she always had callings. As the district Relief Society president in Grand Forks, North Dakota, she served the sisters all over North Dakota and northern Minnesota. She loved her family without reservation and was loved by all. She unselfishly looked to the comfort of everyone around her before considering herself. The funeral will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at 11:30 a.m., with a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Saratoga Springs 10th Ward chapel at 650 West 400 North in Saratoga Springs, Utah. Burial will be the next day at 11 a.m. in the St. George City Cemetery, 700 E. Tabernacle St., St. George, Utah. Flowers should be sent only to the 10th Ward Chapel to arrive only on the morning of the funeral.The family expresses its heartfelt appreciation to the staff at the Courtyard at Jamestown in Provo for the superb care they gave Elaine over the past four years.Arrangements are made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, (435) 673-2454.
