Stephen Kenneth Griener1990 ~ 2013Stephen Kenneth Griener, 22, was born in Sandy, UT on June 9, 1990 and raised in Alpine, UT. Stephen brought joy to of all those who came in contact with him. As a child, he could be found playing with a mischievous smile on his face and a joyful light in his eyes. As a young man, Stephen had a passion for athletics. He excelled in swimming and competed on the Lone Peak and HAST swim teams. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and earned his Duty to God award. After graduating from high school he attended BYU and was an avid cougar fan.At 19, he served a LDS Mission in the NY, NY South Mission speaking Spanish. He worked hard and loved to serve. Near the end of his 2 year calling, Stephen was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma. After nearly 2 years of chemotherapy, and 3 stem cell transplants, he passed away in Salt Lake City on January 24, 2013. He loved all of those who worked on East 8 at LDS Hospital.Stephen is survived by his parents, Jeff & Jane Griener, and siblings, Jared (Maria Jose), Sarah, Jennifer, Nathan, & Joshua. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Fort Canyon LDS Chapel, 890 North Heritage Hills Dr, Alpine, UT. A viewing will be held on Monday, January 28, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Warenski Funeral Home, 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, UT and Tuesday morning from 9:30-10:30 am prior to services at the church. Interment, Alpine City Cemetery.
