Margaret Bottum Hildebrand29 Jan. 1958 ~ 10 Dec. 2012Our wonderful mother, friend, and dog-lover, died unexpectedly from a blood clot to her brain. One suspects that when she found herself in Heaven, she asked to speak to the management. Death came too soon. As we commemorate what would have been her 55th birthday, we remember Maggie with love and great fondness.Maggie was one of the most brilliant, witty and caring people to grace our lives. Her absence is keenly felt by all who knew and loved her; chiefly, by her four outstanding sons: Jake Meany, Los Angeles; Robert Hildebrand, West Point Military Academy; James Hildebrand, U. Mass-Amherst; Charles Hildebrand, Claremont, Ca. Maggie was a graduate of East High, Smith College, Georgetown University Law School and Le Cordon Bleu. She practiced law in Los Angeles before retiring to rear her sons and beloved dogs. She relished her role as mother and was devoted to the well being of not only her sons, but her two step-children: Taylor and Morgan Hildebrand. Anyone who walked through her door was considered family and made to feel welcome. To eat one of her meals was to feast like a king. To be her friend was to know love and devotion that was unequalled. It would be difficult to list her prodigious talents, but certainly, her remarkable sense of humor, her rich vocabulary, her love for reading, her ability to dissect any issue, and her love for her family and friends, will all long be remembered. Maggie had an abiding faith in God. She never doubted that one day she would return to a loving Father and his Son. We trust that in our sorrow we may join our faith with hers in knowing that she is now "one with the angels." Rest well, dear Maggie.
