Nancy Kathryn Jonsson Handley1939 ~ 2013Nancy Kathryn Jonsson Handley, 73, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2012 in Pleasant Grove, Utah.Born Nancy Kathryn Jonsson to Reuben L. and Kathryn Preston Jonsson on May 16, 1939, in Buffalo, N.Y. Nancy moved with her family to Salt Lake City in 1946. She was educated in Salt Lake City schools and graduated from West High School in 1957. Nancy had a great talent for art, and in her senior year, she designed the cover for the school's poetry magazine, West Winds. After high school, Nancy attended the University of Utah where she studied to be a teacher. In 1962 Nancy married Harry Paxton Hewitt who was studying History at the University of Utah. In 1968 the couple moved to Wichita Falls, TX, where they lived for a number of years. They were later divorced, and Nancy returned to her roots in Salt Lake City, where she worked at the capitol, for the State of Utah until she retired.Nancy married Lary Handley in 1984. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. The couple enjoyed camping, model rocketry, and oil painting together until her health declined.Lary passed away at home in 2012.Nancy is survived by her son, Michael Paxton Hewitt (Kathy) and their children, Jennifer, Christopher, and Allison; and two great grandchildren of Houston, TX.; a brother, David P. Jonsson (Leigh Ann) of Salt Lake City and a sister, Carolyn J. (W. Dennis) Wright, of American Fork.Funeral services will be held Tuesday evening, January 29, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove.
