Stella T. Davies1/14/1923 ~ 1/25/2013Stella, our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend, graduated this life with honors and returned to Heavenly Father. She was born in Mt. Emmons, Utah. Stella was the seventh of fourteen children born to LeRoy and Wealtha Osborn Thacker. She graduated from Altamont High School in 1940. She married Don J. Davies and was the mother of four children: A. Don (Mary Jane) Davies, Wayne (Violet) Davies, Beverly (Blaine) Peek, and Carolyn (Barry-deceased) Jensen. Stella was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-days Saints and she was sealed to her family on June 26, 2009. Stella loved music and was very gifted with the ability to play many musical instruments. Stella found the most enjoyment in the simple things in life like, such as oil painting, photography, family get-togethers, watching the Utah JAZZ play and gardening just to name a few. She also had a green thumb and could revive any plant. Her ability to work hard was evident in all she did. She was a great example to us all. Stella was an exceptional seamstress. She put up a little sign in her front window 'ALTERATIONS AND MENDING' and had plenty of work to do. She enjoyed visiting with each and every one of her customers. Stella loved her family and her door was always open for anyone needing a place to stay. Stella's family wishes to say thank you to everyone who came to visit with her and who took part in caring for Grandma. The family extends a very special thank you to Staci, Tasha, Carol, Emily and Julie from the "Good Shepherd Hospice" for their tender, kind-loving care. Stella is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; six brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by her children; four sisters, Delma Mayberry, Pattie Richards, Lorna Merkley Smith, Anna Lee ("Bus") Mathews; one brother, Alton (Cheryl) Thacker; 18 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at the Holladay 3rd Ward, 4568 South Holladay Blvd. on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 10 a.m. Viewings will be held Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S.
