Gene Creig Milne1933 ~ 2013Gene Creig Milne, 79, a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away from this life on January 26, 2013. Gene was born on September 9, 1933 to Glen C. and Verl W. Milne. He was raised in Fort Union, UT. Gene graduated from Jordan High School in 1951. He continued his education at Utah Technical College and the University of Utah and became an Industrial Engineer. Gene was working at Wasatch Meat when he was drafted into the US Army. Upon completion of basic training, Gene married Barbara E. McAllister on June 2, 1955. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. After his service in the Korean War, Gene worked as a Welder at Structural Steel/EIMCO. He held the positions, Supervisor of the Welding Shop and Warehouse Manager. Gene loved sports, both playing and coaching. He coached Babe Ruth and Little League Baseball, church basketball and he formed his own softball team. Gene was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved golf, four-wheeling on his ATV and riding dirt bikes. He also loved spending time on his property near Salina, UT. Gene was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as Elders Quorum President, High Priest Group Leader and Scout Master. He and Barbara served a five year calling at the Sandy Regional Center. Survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara; children, Michelle, Steven, Joni (Andy) Wardle and Matthew; grandchildren, Shawn (Renee), Angie (Landon), Jessica (Russell), Aaron, Aubrey and Jeni; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Kaylie, Tanner, Rylie and Peyton. Preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Lindsay, Cloris (Swede) and Jack. The family wishes to thank Dr. George Middleton and the staff at the Veterans Hospital for their care and support of Gene. The family also wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers at Sunrise Assisted Living of Sandy and Curio Hospice Care for their kindness and care for Gene. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Fairoaks Ward, 586 East 8400 South, Sandy, UT. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Friday evening at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale, UT and 1 hour prior to the services, at the church.
