Jerry Franklin May1928 ~ 2012Jerry Franklin May, born May 6, 1928, returned to greet his sweetheart and Eternal Companion on January 2, 2013. Son of Timothy Franklin May and Florence Duncombe May. Married the love of his life, Amy Lue Christensen May on April 19, 1952, later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on January 31, 1985. Jerry attended West High School in Salt Lake City and the University of Utah where he studied drafting and architecture. Jerry served as a valued member of the United States Air Force, where he was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska. Prior to leaving for Alaska, he met his sweetheart Amy whom he married and raised 3 children, Christy, Jodi, and Jimmy. Jerry worked as Chief Draftsman for Buehner Concrete and was later promoted as Chief Estimator overseeing many projects, buildings and temples, including the Oakland and Portland LDS Temple. Jerry joined the LDS Church in 1983 where he served faithfully as a home teacher, ward clerk, Executive Secretary and most recently in the High Priest Group leadership.Jerry was an avid golfer and an ideal day for him consisted of time on a golf course with a few of his close and dear friends. Jerry was a loving and devoted Father. He raised his family in Midvale, Utah and later moved to South Jordan, Utah. He enjoyed puttering around the house and was ever so grateful for the love and companionship of his dog AJ, who was his little buddy.Jerry is survived by his three children, Christy Ann May (Jim) Ault, Jodi Lynne May (Scott) Maxfield, James Franklin (Diana) May, 10 grandchildren: Josh (Tammy), Andrew (Jennie), Aaron (Lindsay), Samantha (Sam), McCall (Nicholas), Preston (Jessica), Jesse (Aubry), Dustin, Morgan, and Paden, 12-1/2 great-grandchildren, and sister Sandra Lamper, and AJ. He was preceded in death by his parents and his eternal companion Amy.The family would like to thank the doctors who have provided care for Jerry and especially to the kind, loving, compassionate and caring staff of Care Source Hospice, his nurse Debra, and the countless "angels" on earth who took care of him in his final days.Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 7, 2013 at 12:00 pm at the South Jordan 7th Ward building, 9750 South 2200 West, South Jordan, Utah. Viewing will be at the Jenkins-Soffe South Valley Chapel, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10400 South), South Jordan, Utah on Sunday, January 6, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and from 10:45 am to 11:45 am prior to the service on Monday at the church.
