K. Richard Boulter1929 ~ 2013K. Richard (Kay) Boulter, 83, passed away on the evening of Sept. 28, 2013 in South Jordan, Utah after battling a long-time illness. Kay was born in Orem, Utah on Oct. 7, 1929 to Kendell and Inez Boulter. He married his high school sweetheart Mary Ellen (Emee) Peters in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 27, 1950. Together they had four children. He graduated from Utah State University in 1953. Due to his love of the outdoors, Kay worked 34 years for the State of Utah as a conservation officer with the Division of Wildlife Resources and was later made the assistant director of Utah State Parks. While working with State Parks, he helped organize the Annual Bison Round Up and secured funding to establish Palisades State Park.One of his life's passions was working with horses. He bred, raised and trained quarter horses, also was an AQHA judge. He trained horses that were the All-Around Horse winners for Utah three years in a row. His love for horses was something he enjoyed sharing with his family. He loved spending time with his children, not only showing horses, but also riding in the mountains. It was in his nature to work hard and cultivate a deep understanding of all he did; he didn't have hobbies, he was a man of masteries. Kay was a dedicated member of the LDS faith and served in many callings. He found great meaning in his family. They were the love of his life.In his later years, Kay enjoyed watching old western films with his son Steve. Ultimately, he was the most upstanding and honest man you'd ever metKay is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Emee Boulter, their four children Steve Boulter, Joanne Boulter, Rick (Michelle) Boulter, Lori (Steve) Shepard, 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and his brother Terry (Elaine) Boulter.
