Leslie W. Childs1944-2013Leslie W Childs, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away on October 9th, 2013, as a result of complications following a heart attack, at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he was loved and cared for by wonderful doctors and nurses. Les was born on April 8, 1944 in Ely, Nevada to parents, Howard and Martha Morgan Childs. He spent his childhood in Utah and later moved to Dillon, Montana, where he met the love of his life, his eternal companion, Rose Marie Butala. Together, Les and Rose Marie have seven wonderful children, whom he loves with all his heart. Les and Rose Marie were married on October 25, 1963 and moved to California shortly after their marriage. Les attended Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, where he received his degree in Agricultural Business. Les was very active in the agricultural and real estate industries. Les was a very active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and found joy serving in many leadership positions and callings within the church. He and his wife served a full-time in the Russia Samara Mission for two years. Upon returning to Utah, they were called to serve a two year part-time service mission in the Utah, Salt Lake City Mission. They served in two Spanish congregations where their love, friendship, and example touched the lives of countless people. Most recently, they were preparing to serve another full-time mission.Les leaves behind a legacy of Christ-like teaching and love. He carried with him a spirit that will live on and will not soon be forgotten. His gentle and loving hand will continue to guide. His faith will continue to inspire. His love and patience will continue to be felt. His testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ will be passed on and the feelings of love and joy he provided to all who knew him will never fade.Les is preceded in death by his parents and his sweet granddaughter, Mariela Pritchard. He is survived by his wife and his children: Wayne Childs (Aleeca), Steve Childs (Jolena), Kevin Childs (Alisa), Scott Childs (Emily), Cindy Pritchard (Brett), Tamara Bilanzich (Travis), and Lori Albrecht (Josh). He also leaves behind his 28 grandchildren and his siblings: Lee, LaRee (Kay), Errol, DeVon (Glenda), and Jean (Jon).Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 12th at 12:00 noon. 1475 E 8600 S, Sandy, Utah.
