Thorolf "Ivar"Evjen1925 ~ 2013Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully in his home Oct 6, 2013. "Ivar", as his family and friends knew him, was born in Drammen, Norway on July 7, 1925.Early in his life, with the encouragement of his father, Ingvald, Ivar developed a keen interest in telephone and communications. He continued in this field his entire life, eventually earning a degree in engineering.Our father met and 2 years later married Aslaug Standness in January 1950. This union produced six children over the following 12 years.In 1957 Ivar and Aslaug made the momentous decision to immigrate to the United states following their conversion to the LDS Church,Our father continued to work in telecommunication here in the United States. At one time he ran his own business.This kind and gentle man will be remembered for patience, love and compassion. He is survived by his wife, Aslaug of 63 years; and his six children, Thor (Trinka) Evjen, Bjorn (Barbara) Evjen, Knut (Ennis) Evjen, Ingrid Evjen (Keith Braden), Per (Kirsten Larson) Evjen, and Solveig (Michael) DesJardin, 12 grandchildren, and 13 grandchildren.Memorial services will be held Friday, October 11, 2013 at 11:00am at the Edgehill Ward, 1750 South 1500 East, where friends and family can visit 10:00-10:45am prior to the service.For a complete obituary and to post messages for the family go to: www.HolbrookMortuary.com
