A couple of weeks ago, I received a threatening phone call from someone pretending to be deputy sheriff Salt Lake City.
Knowing it to be a scam, I informed the police department expecting an inquiry and update. Nothing happened. Upon my repeated calls to the office, I was informed that the police department was "helpless" and had no resources to track and apprehend such criminals. I was surprised that our cops could not even access a simple people-finder app. I was not surprised, however, as to why such criminals are having a field day feeding on innocent citizens.
I changed and unlisted my number, but my question remains — is this how we tackle crime these days?
