SALT LAKE CITY — And then there were 19.

The Utah Jazz made their first cut of the exhibition season Monday when they waived former Saint Joseph big man Dwayne Jones II.

The dismissal of the 6-11, 250-pound Jones, who only played briefly in one preseason game, brings the Jazz's roster total down to 16 healthy players and 19 overall. Point guard Trey Burke (broken finger), shooting guard Brandon Rush (knee) and small forward Marvin Williams (Achilles' heel) are unavailable to participate due to injuries.

Utah has to get its roster to between 13 and 15 players before its Oct. 30 season opener at home against Oklahoma City.

Also, starting small forward Gordon Hayward missed Monday's practice with a bruised right arch but is expected to play Wednesday when the Jazz host Portland.
