SALT LAKE CITY — Richard Buehler announced he is retiring from the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands in mid-December after nearly 40 years of service.

Buehler, who began his career as a boating ranger in 1973 and the second in charge at East Canyon State Park, has been the state forester, director of the agency, a member of the law enforcement division and an investigator on wildfires.

“This has not been an easy decision as I look back over four decades of coming to work in a career that I have loved,” he said. “I must say that I would do it all over again if I had the chance.”
