Naomi Dillman LuntApril 5, 1921 ~ October 10, 2013Naomi Dillman Lunt, 92, passed away October 10, 2013 in her home in Cedar City, Utah with her daughter, Sage, and two sons, Marcus and Chris, present. Her husband, Paul Ray Lunt preceeded her in death October 15, 2012.Naomi was born April 5, 1921 in Roosevelt, Utah to Ray Eugene and Mildred Miles Dillman.She was the third of five children, brothers Earl and Miles, and sisters Mary (Eldredge) and Dorothy (Hunsaker).Naomi and Paul have five children. Ray, a dentist in Oregon. Sage (Platt) director of the Speech & Presentation Center at SUU in Utah. Ned, a dentist in Texas. Marcus, Senior Project Manager for Landesk in Utah. Chris Senior Systems Administrator for Cardno USA in California. Naomi has 26 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren. She was affectionately known as "Gram" by many.Naomi grew up in the Uintah basin and excelled in academics and activities. She continued her education at BYU and Utah State and after graduating she taught in Bunkerville, Nevada. She married Paul Lunt May 15, 1944 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She had many talents, some of her accomplishments include: the Civil Air Patrol during WWII, and many church callings. She was involved in scouting and was awarded the James W. West Fellow Award from the Boy Scouts of America in 2007.Naomi spent years promoting dental health. She wrote two children's books, 'A Dentist of My Own' and 'The Molar Derby'. One placed in all elementary schools in Japan. She was known as the "Tooth Fairy" teaching elementary school children about oral hygiene.Naomi was active in the community. She was awarded the Senior Citizen of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce in 2007. She and Paul supported SUU athletics enjoying afternoons watching SUU baseball games. They were the recipients of the Carmen Rose Hepworth Alumni award, SUU (2011-2012).Naomi also published several articles for the Utah Historical Quarterly.Funeral services will be held Friday October 18, 2013 at 11:00am at the LDS church located at 155 East 400 South Cedar City, Utah.Visitation will be Thursday, October 17, 2013 from 6- 8:00pm at Southern Utah Mortuary, 190 North 300 West, Cedar City, Utah, on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30am at the LDS church located at 155 East 400 South Cedar City, Utah. Interment will be at the Cedar City Cemetery following the funeral under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. Online condolences can be made at www.sumortuary.com.
