William David TandyAug. 9, 1951 ~ Oct. 12, 2013Farmington, UTOn Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, William (Bill) David Tandy returned peacefully to his Heavenly Father after a courageous battle with leukemia (AML) surrounded by his family, who will miss him mightily in their lives.He was born Aug. 9, 1951, in Lynwood, Calif., the only son and youngest of three children born to Ervin Lee Tandy and Marge O'Dell Tandy. He graduated from Granada Hills High School in San Fernando Valley, California. He joined the United States Air Force in 1971 with the rank of airman. He left the military briefly to serve an LDS mission to Spain. When he returned from his mission, he attended BYU where he met and married Rajeanna Martin, formerly of Burley, Idaho, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He rejoined the Air Force and over their 35 year marriage they raised five children and lived in many places around the world. After retiring from the military as a Lt. Colonel, they settled in the Salt Lake City area.Bill loved his family and enjoyed doing many things with them, especially fishing. He also loved to serve others in whatever capacity he was called upon to do. He was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since his conversion at age 19. He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife, Rajeanna Martin; their five children, William David Tandy, Jr., Sarah Rajeanna Styles (Craig), Matthew John Tandy (Christina), Jennifer Marie Lee (Gerald), and Amanda Susan Tandy; seven grandchildren, Cameron Styles, Levi Tandy, Thomas Lee, Wyatt Lee, Crystal Lee, Jessica Lee, and Kia Lee; his sisters, Karen Tandy Pelle and Susan Tandy Olson (John); two nephews, Chuck and Casey; and several cousins.A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Brighton LDS 4th Ward Church, 2327 E. Bengal Blvd., in Cottonwood Heights, Utah.A brief graveside service and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at the Pleasant View Cemetery, 1645 E. 16th St., in Burley, Idaho.Arrangement have been entrusted to the care of the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, Idaho.
