Keith W. Bates1934 ~ 2013Heber City- Our wonderful husband, father and grandfather, Keith W. Bates, passed away Oct 14th 2013 in the comfort of his home surrounded by loving family. Keith was born Sept 16th 1934 in Park City Utah to William and Mary Bates. He so enjoyed growing up in Park City where many memories were made with friends learning how to ski jump on Creole Hill.Keith married Carol Ann Parker Bates May 19th 1966 in Salt Lake City Utah. Together they spent 47 years of marriage that was full of love and wonderful family times. Moving to Heber City, together they worked to build their dream home and ranch, where family and friends have always been welcome. He always loved and enjoyed hunting and camping, our true Mountain Man. He was a machinist for several years, then he started a new career in the trucking industry, until he retired at the age of 70. He was a member of the Park City Mountain Patrol since it opened in 1963. This past year he celebrated his 50th year on the patrol. Through these years he gained many lifelong friends. The ski patrol was a special part of his life. Survived by is his wife Carol, sons, Keith W. Bates Jr (Diane), Randy Bates (Leslie), and Daughters, Cindy Bertolina (John) Kimberly Butler ( Mitch) and Heidi Zaharias (Shane); 15 grand and nine great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 19, 2013 12 noon in the Daniels LDS ward, 2283 Daniels, Utah. Viewings will be on Friday from 6-8:00 at Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home, 288 North Main Street, Heber City and on Saturday 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services at the Daniels LDS Church.
