Samuel Richard Butchereit5/17/1948 ~ 10/2/2013Samuel Richard Butchereit, our beloved husband, brother, uncle, and cousin passed away in White City, Oregon. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to John and Martha Butchereit.He graduated from Murray High School and the University of Utah with Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Social Work. He was a Captain in the U.S. Army. He worked for the Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Centers in Castlepoint, New York, Long Beach, California, Altoona, Pennsylvania, Loma Linda, California, and Sheridan, Wyoming retiring after 28 years from the Domiciliary in White City, Oregon. He received many awards including the prestigious VA Secretary's "Hands and Heart" award in 1990. He had an exemplary career of service to veterans during his years as a clinical social worker and program director.He married the love of his life, Victoria Diane Bailey, in 2005 and they had 8 wonderful years together.He was an avid follower of the stock market, and had a hobby of collecting special rocks and stones, polishing them, and making them into jewelry. He and Vicki had a second home on the Oregon Coast, which they loved. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He loved his wife, his family, and the veterans he served.Survived by his wife, Vicki; sisters, D. Jane Wiseman, Nancy B. Anderson (Max), Carol and Shirley Butchereit; brother, John R. Butchereit (Joyce); 7 nieces; 4 nephews; 2 great nieces; and 7 great nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Michael D. Butchereit; sister, Diane Faith Butchereit; and brothers-in-law, Grant Wiseman and George Bailey.A graveside service was held.
