SALT LAKE CITY — A new memorial honoring Utah’s fallen warriors is now open.
A 4.5-ton piece of concrete, rock and steel rebar from the World Trade Center is the centerpiece of the Fort Douglas Military Museum's Utah Fallen Warriors Memorial. The 9/11 artifact from the twin towers is called "UT6andALL" to commemorate the six gold-star mothers who spearheaded the project, along with all of Utah’s fallen warriors.
Gov. Gary Herbert was on hand for the dedication Monday.
The museum is on the University of Utah campus at 32 Potter St. and is open noon-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. Admission is free.
