Frances Austin Stevenson 1/1/24 - 10/19/13Frances (Going) Austin Stevenson, beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away peacefully October 19, 2013 from causes incident to age. Born to F. Mark Austin, Jr. and Beatrice Eliza (Going) Austin on January 1, 1924, Fran was raised in the Cottonwood area of Salt Lake City. She graduated from Granite High School and attended the University of Utah. She married her sweetheart, Newell B. Stevenson on October 27, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple. Fran and Newell moved to the San Francisco area in 1956, where they raised their five sons, retiring back to Salt Lake in 1992 to be close to family. Fran was a faithful and dedicated member of the LDS church, serving in many Primary, Young Women and Relief Society callings, and supporting Newell in his callings as Bishop, Stake President, Patriarch and Sealer. In addition to being a wonderful wife, mother and friend, Fran loved painting, flowers and crafts. She ran an arts and crafts boutique in California for several years and was always surrounded by her treasured paintings and crafts. Fran was a gourmet cook and gracious hostess, unselfishly sharing her wonderful creations with friends and family. Fran is survived by sons Brian (Susan), Brent (Margo) and Tracy (Patricia) and sisters Lila Juhlin and Bernice Dillingham all living in the greater Salt Lake area. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Newell, sons Scott and Mark, sister Thelma Rynearson and brother Mark (Jan) Austin. She is also survived by grandchildren Jeff (Heather), Staci St. Jeor (Troy), Brett, Becky, Stephanie Waddoups (Doug), Chris (Jaime), Peter (Cari), Lindsey Briggs (Skyler), Kristen Corpron (David), David Casey (Arun), Ryan (Maggie), Austin Owens (Jonathan) and 23 great-grandchildren. Fran and the family are most grateful to all of her special friends, church members and care-givers at Sunrise Holladay and Inspiration Hospice for their friendship and compassionate care. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday October 25 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E 10600 S, Sandy Utah. Friends may visit on Thursday evening from 6:30 until 8 or Friday morning from 10 to 10:45. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
