Douglas O'Brien Buchi"GAGA"Salt Lake City, UTDouglas O'Brien Buchi, 69, of Salt Lake City passed away October 20, 2013. He was born on April 16, 1944 to Lola Arbon and Douglas O'Brien Nelson, Sr. He was preceded in death by his father who was killed in action in World War II. Douglas spent his early years in Helena, MT, until he attended Brigham Young University and later served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in North Carolina. He was married to Sherri Lynn Waters for 38 years. They spent many years raising their family of 2 sons and 4 daughters, and had many family memories together. He was later married to Jan Nuttall and enjoyed five short years together traveling and BYU football.He had a long and successful career in real estate development working for various private organizations and most recently for the School Trust Lands for the State of Utah. He loved the gospel and was a faithful member of his church all of his life. He had a huge, caring heart and loved to be of service.Although very successful in his career, his greatest joy was in seeing his children and grandchildren's accomplishments. He loved going to their games and activities and sharing in their lives. He will be missed by his children Tamara Lee Yingling (Rocky), Brett Douglas Buchi (Jodi), Kristin Michele Tillotson (Shane), James Derek Buchi, Erin Nichole Thomas (Vance), and Traci Lynn Wilson. He is survived by 18 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and preceded in death by 1 grandchild. He was nicknamed Gaga by his first grandchild and he proudly carried the name for twenty-two years.Doug has left a big hole in our family and will be loved forever.A viewing will be held for friends and family Wednesday October 23, 2013 from 6-8pm. The funeral service will be Thursday October 24, 2013 at 11am with a viewing 1 1/2 hour prior with all services at Mountain View Memorial Mortuary, 3115 East Bengal Blvd. (7800 South).
