Leroy M. Evenson, D.D.S.1923 ~ 2013Our beloved father was reunited with his sweetheart on October 21, 2013, after a valiant fight with cancer. Leroy was born on June 22, 1923 to Lena Margrethe Knudsen and John Henry Evenson. He had four brothers and one sister. Roy was an Army veteran who fought in the 84th Infantry in Germany and Belgium during World War II. Upon returning, he served a 2-1/2 year mission to Norway. He married and was sealed to Carolee in the Salt Lake Temple on June 29, 1951. They moved to Washington, D.C. where Roy graduated from Georgetown University with a Doctorate degree in Dental Surgery.Dad was a faithful and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who served in many positions, including working in the temple. He loved to serve and was a very charitable person, donating dental services to those who couldn't pay. He loved gardening, being outdoors, and having adventures.Roy is survived by his ten living children: Eileen Evenson, Jeannine (Bruce) Erickson, Eric, Marianne (Don) Yates, Kathryn (Ted) Frandsen, Janet Evenson, Richard (Becca), Karen Ramson, Lisa (Jim) Cummings, and Jonathan (Julie). Roy and Carolee have a large posterity of 31 grandchildren and 56 great-grandchildren.A viewing will be held on Thursday, October 24th, at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State (Midvale) from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the Mount Jordan 4th Ward, 235 East 9800 South (Sandy) with a viewing one hour prior.
