Douglas Kurt Sorensen1952 ~ 2013Doug Sorensen died at home on October 21, 2013. He was born May 11, 1952 in Cedar City to Cleo and Elbern Sorensen. The youngest of four children, Doug grew up in Orderville, Utah where he was student body president at Valley High School. Doug married Leslie Naisbitt in 1976. Together they had three children. Doug dearly loved his family and doted on his grandchildren. He had a magnetic personality, was fun-loving, and a joy to be around. He excelled at golf and loved the game. Throughout his life, Doug had a deep connection to the family ranch, first homesteaded by his great-grandfather in East Zion. He had a strong work ethic and retired from the Ironworkers Local 27 after 25 years. Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Cleo, and older brother, Kyran. He is survived by his father, Elbern; children: Cortney Lee Frakes Sorensen, Chelsey Anna Sorensen, and Dustin Jerrett Sorensen; grandchildren: Shailee, Axel, and Bentlee; former spouse, Leslie Sorensen; a brother, Stan (Nancy) Sorensen, and a sister, Pam (Spencer) Young; numerous nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held at the Orderville LDS ward from 10:00-11:00 am with a graveside dedication at 11:30 am. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Sorensen Ranch at 12:30 pm. Doug, we will miss your infectious laugh and contagious smile. God be with you 'till we meet again.
