Linda Wong1928 - 2013Salt Lake City, UT -- Linda Wong passed peacefully on Sept. 29, 2013. Linda was born September 17, 1928 to an Arizona shopkeeper and wife. Her father died when she was an infant and her mother took her and her two brothers to the family village in China. Linda, 20, and her mother returned to the U.S., settling, in Portland, OR. Linda met James Wong, a Salt Lake City restaurant operator of The China Village, because he was told there were many eligible and beautiful Chinese women in Portland. Linda's friends, family and co-workers witnessed her wit, strength and love. She will be remembered for her gracious manner, generosity and patience. She took great pride as a seamstress for Mode O'Day, Pykettes and ABC Bags. She designed and made clothes for her children and grandchildren until her Singer machine stopped when she was 78. Linda enjoyed Wendover, spoiling her grandchildren, traveling, laughing and good Chinese food with her family and friends.She is predeceased by her parents; husband, James; brothers Karl and Joe and daughter, Mamie. Linda is survived by daughter, Jo-Ann; son, Ike James; son-in-law, Jeffrey; daughter-in-law, Jan; grandchildren, Maria, James and Jordan and an extended family of in-laws and cousins. Linda Wong's smile continues in our hearts and memories.Graveside services will be held Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 12:00 noon at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 4th Avenue & 'N' Street. Family and friends may visit Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, and Tuesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service.
