Sylvia Mayer Bliss1919 ~ 2013Sylvia Mayer Bliss, 94, of Provo, Utah, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2013 in Orem, surrounded by her family. Sylvia was born August 16, 1919 in Payson, Utah to David Samuel Mayer and Minerva Jane McClellan Mayer. She married Jesse Max Bliss in the Salt Lake Temple on August 18, 1941. They had one daughter, Bonnie Kay. They lived in Orem for fifty years. After her husband's retirement they served a Senior Couple Mission in Tampa Florida from 1978 to 1980. Sylvia's life was filled with service; she always put others' needs above her own and accepted and fulfilled every assignment and calling with excellence. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life and served in teaching, music and leadership callings in every organization. She was gifted with many musical talents which she developed and shared and was also very skilled in sewing, knitting and crocheting. She will be greatly missed for her sprightly humor, her many talents, and her loving kindness and generosity to all. Her family loved her dearly and their memories of her will be cherished. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie (Ron) Clark of Orem, Utah; seven grandchildren, Mike (Catherine) of Boise, ID, Chris (David) Dunn of Eagle, ID; Karin (Brian) Miller of Saratoga Springs, UT; Pam (Wayne) Roberts of Draper, UT; David (Firuza) Clark of Elkridge, UT; Valerie (Brian) McCauley of Eagle, ID and Dan (Emily) Clark of Meridian, ID; twenty-nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She is also survived by a sister, Mayda Mead of Salt Lake City, a sister-in law, Vernice Mayer of Ogden and numerous nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Max, her parents, five sisters and one brother.Special thanks to the staff at Aspen Ridge in Orem for their wonderful and loving care of Sylvia during her stay there and to her many friends and the staff at Cove Point Retirement Community, her home for over twelve years. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Monday, October 7, 2013 at the Sundberg-Olpin Funeral Home, 495 South State Street, Orem, Utah 84058. A viewing will be held at 9 AM prior to the services. Burial will follow in the Orem City Cemetery, 1520 N. 800 East, Orem, UT.
