Michael A Young1947 ~ 2013Michael A. Young was born on Christmas Day, 1947, in Salt Lake City, UT. He returned to his heavenly home on October 31, 2013. Michael was the best husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved the outdoors, spending time at the golf course, and was a true lover of baseball.Michael graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1966 and served in the North Eastern States Mission for the LDS Church. Michael loved traveling with his best friend and wife, Jean. Two of his favorite places to go were Zihuatanejo, Mexico, where he could sit on the beach and watch the waves come in; and Alaska where he would visit family, swap stories, and eat homemade pie.Michael was a writer and enjoyed reading all kinds of books. Two of his favorites were A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens and Mark Twain's Huckleberry Finn. He loved a good laugh and will be remembered for his smile, positive attitude, and kindness.Michael is survived by his wife Jean Arment; children Lisa Young, David (Heather) Young, Marlo (Brock) Kirkham, Paul (Valerie) Young, Ted (Angie) Young, Nikelle (Theodore) Miller; 3 stepsons Fred Alldredge, Ashley (Cara) Alldredge, Luke Anderson; brothers Robert (Chris) Young and Jim (Carol) Young; and 13 grandchildren. Preceded in death by his mother Sylvia Probst Young, father Reid Young, and brother Steve Young.Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 4, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Richards Ward, 860 East Downington Avenue (1830 South), where friends may visit with the family from 9:30 am to 10:30 am prior to services.
