LaMar Dellwood ScottMay 24, 1920 ~ October 31, 2013LaMar Dellwood Scott, 93, of Lindon passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013 at his home. He was born May 24, 1920 in San Francisco, CA to Joseph Ervin and Della Crystal Gardner Scott. He married Vergia Thalman on October 23, 1942 in Vermillion (Sevier County), Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.LaMar grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from Granite High School in 1938. He enlisted and served in the US Coast Guard in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters during WWII. He received his BS Degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Utah in 1950. Vergia and LaMar made their home in Lindon where they raised their nine children. He worked at Geneva Steel, retiring in 1978. LaMar enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and enjoying the outdoors with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 71 years; eight children: Del (Darlene) Scott, Verla Legeman, Lane (Pamela) Scott, Margia (Pat) Flaa, Jes (Claire) Scott, LaDee Scott, Verg (Melody) Scott, Giala (Jay) Murdoch; 34 grandchildren and 70+ great-grandchildren; siblings, June (Viv) White and Gardner (Kathy) Scott; sisters in law: Creta Robinson and Lael Thalman. LaMar was preceded in death by his two children: infant daughter, Mikan, son, Cris, and son-in-law, Michael Legeman.Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 10:00 am in the Lindon Fourteenth Ward Chapel, 320 West 500 North, Lindon. Family and friends may attend a viewing Monday evening from 6-8 pm at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove. No viewing prior to services on Tuesday. Interment will be in the Vermillion Cemetery in Sigurd, Utah at 3:00 pm. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
