Kay Eugene Blackner1936 ~ 2013Kay Eugene Blackner, born June 16, 1936, in California. Parents Glenn Miller Blackner and Annie Leola Kesler Blackner. Died December 9th, 2013 to go fishing in paradise, at the age of 77.Kay grew up in Greenville, UT, attended SCU and UofU, served a mission in Gulf States area. He served in the activated National Guard in 1964. He was the youngest of three kids. He met and married Betty Fay Davis on March 30, 1961 in the Salt Lake Temple. Kay was an avid BYU fan and enjoyed watching all the Cougar sports. He loved fishing and would take any opportunity to take friends and family. Active member of the LDS church and a member of the Rosecrest II Ward. He loved and was involved for years in the scouting program and was a Silver Beaver. Served a service mission with his wife at Welfare Square. His latest missionary calling was taking inmates to the Bonneville Branch. He was known to everyone as "The Toy Man".Preceded in death by his parents, brother Melvin G. Blackner and sister Ruth Blackner Bradshaw. Survived by his wife, Betty of 52 years, three children: Charles Glenn Blackner of Salt Lake City, Andrea Blackner Flandro of Oregon (Michael Flandro of Taylorsville, UT), and Candace Washburn (Brian) of Saratoga Springs, UT. 6 grandchildren: Russell Jr., Christopher, Marquessa, Matthew, Tiandra, and Marqus.Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2013, 11:00 am at the Rosecrest 2nd Ward, 3101 South 2300 East. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday evening, December 10, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East and at the church on Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 am prior to services. Online messages may be sent to the family at Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Boys Scouts of America. Thank you to the VA doctors and nurses and Intermountain Health Care/Hospice.
