Air quality

My children and I suffer from asthma, chronic sinusitis and chronic bronchitis. We love Salt Lake City, but the air quality is forcing us to move this summer. Anyone who is endorsing an increase in air pollution in this valley should be ashamed of themselves — they are directly harming infants and children who cannot choose for themselves where or how they might live.

The recent editorial piece on the Holly Refinery ("Refinery should be allowed to expand," Dec. 12) is an outrage. Allowing Holly to expand will not increase Utah's supply of gas (the increased product will be shipped to Las Vegas and Southern California) and will not reduce the price of gas, but Holly will make a lot more money and Utah will be left with more pollution. This is an insult to the health of everyone in our community.
