Fire damages two Main Street businesses in Logan

LOGAN — A fire sparked in a shared wall between two businesses on Main Street did about $10,000 damage Wednesday.

The fire started in a space a wall between a bakery and what used to be an auto parts store at 311 N. Main, Logan Assistant Fire Chief Brady Hansen said. A team doing salvage work in the empty business noticed smoke and called police about 5:30 p.m.

Fire crews from multiple agencies approached the fire from both businesses to locate and extinguish the blaze high up in the wall, Hansen said.

"We were able to come in with some saws and cut the wall and get access to the fire," he said. "It's a pretty large commercial building with two separate businesses involved, and so it can require a fair amount of resources."

Hansen estimated damage at $10,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

In addition to the burned wall, both businesses sustained smoke damage, and the bakery experienced some water damage.
