Obituary: HOLMAN, VIOLA

Viola Reich HolmanLoving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmotherSalt Lake City, UtahViola Reich Holman passed away peacefully on December 21, 2013 in Taylorsville, Utah, after many years of pain & suffering. She was born July 8, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Erich & Helen Reich. She married Merrill Holman on February 23, 1955 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Viola graduated from Jordan High School.Viola was a loving mother, grandmother & great-grandmother, who taught her family how to laugh & cry, love life and respect one another. Viola was a feisty, little lady with a huge heart & a goofy sense of humor. She loved everyone & she would let them know it. She had so many talents that she loved to share knitting, chair-weaving, cake decorating, ceramics, building doll houses, candy-making, baking, crocheting, cooking, gardening and so much more. Viola was a true grandma. She enjoyed her grandkids and great-grandkids so much playing cards & games, taking them to "the duck park", taking them camping & teasing them mercilessly. Viola was an active member of the LDS church & had a strong testimony. Her faith in Jesus Christ brought her much peace over the years.Preceded in death by her loving husband, parents, 4 brothers, Adolf, Erich, Henry, and Alma, and one great grandson, Logan Emery. She is survived by 3 brothers, Clifford, Hyrum & David Reich and 3 sisters, Ruth Kunz, Marlene Fritz & Helen Hermansen, children Marvin (Kristine) Holman, Bruce (Susan) Holman, Margie (David) Arnovitz, Steven Holman, Susan (Mike) Simpson, 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, including Riley Smith that she spent every Tuesday with for many years.The family would like to thank the loving people at Bristol Hospice and Avalon West, especially Christine, Rebecca, Dotty and Ken. Your love and support has gone far and above the call of duty. Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Rosecrest First Ward , 3101 South 2300 East. Friends may visit with the family on Friday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and also at the church on Saturday morning from 9:30am to 10:30am prior to services.
