SANDY — A Sandy man was hospitalized Friday after being stabbed multiple times in an altercation.

The man and his wife, who are currently estranged, were in Midvale with one of his wife's male friends when an argument broke out, Sandy Police Sgt. Cory Hess said. The man left, but all three ended up at 711 E. 8080 South and a physical fight ensued.

"During that confrontation the estranged husband was stabbed a few times by the other male party," Hess said. "The injuries were not life-threatening."

The victim was stabbed four times in the shoulder, back and abdomen and was transported to the hospital, the sergeant said. He was in stable condition Friday.

The argument was over "random things," Hess said, adding that alcohol may have also played a factor.

The suspect was taken into custody and interviewed by detectives.
