Richard Clement Olsen1925 ~ 2013Our beloved Father, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, Brother, and Friend has been reunited with his wife, passing away in Salt Lake City, UT, on November 30, 2013. Richard was born December 4, 1925, the first of five children, in Los Angeles, CA, to Clement Foy Olsen and Ellen Lerona Holmes Olsen. He grew up in Alhambra, CA, and enjoyed physical education/sports, body building, nature, biology, poetry/reading, drawing/sketching, drafting, painting, lapidary, and wood carving. He attended Mark Keppel High School, completed his education at John Muir Junior College, and went on to complete degrees at the University of Southern California. He joined the U.S. Army Air Force and served as a tail gunner in a B-24 Liberator in the Philippines. He retired from working as a Detective for the Los Angeles Police Department. Richard married Emma Luella "Lue" Clarke Olsen on May 25, 1956 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He previously resided in Rosemead, California.Richard is survived by his children: Mark (Cathy) Olsen, Layton, UT; Erin Olsen, South Salt Lake, UT; Eden (Randy) Johnson, Tustin Ranch, CA; Carlen Ballard, South Salt Lake, UT; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Ken Olsen (Roberta Bell), Covina, CA; and two brother-in-laws: Herbert (Barbara) Clarke, Salt Lake City, UT; Robert (Jean) Clarke, Draper, UT; three sister-in-laws: Jean (Charles) Querry, South Salt Lake, UT; LaRae (Roger) Buckmiller, Rancho Cucamonga, CA; Joy (Jerry) Wilson, Surprise, AZ.He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, twin brother Raymond, brother Donald, and sister Carmen Van CleveGraveside services will be held at Rose Hills Mortuary, Whittier, CA, Monday, December 9, 2013 at 3:00 P.M.
